Lake Macquarie Area Command is in Main Road Boolaroo and records date back to 1909 when Constables operated out of Boolaroo Police Station. The community may not be aware that the nearest Police Station is at Charlestown. Boolaroo is an area command/operations centre. As the population increases rapidly in Lake Macquarie, possibly it is time to see a push on our politicians to increase numbers in the Police Force to service local areas and lift police profile. As crime occurs in any town the distance Police need to travel can increase the temptation. Do businesses need to employ security guards for protection? Is poor lighting an open invitation? We can't always blame unemployment - or can we?
