Looking West toward the Sugarloaf Range.
To the untrained eye it appears a huge foaming wave of destruction is about to engulf the town. In fact, our township is more than 15km inland, so such a fate is far more likely for Lake Macquarie City's beachside suburbs, like Newcastle and Toukley.
The photo, taken one cold winter morning, is in fact a massive bank of early-morning fog streaming over the 350 metre high Sugarloaf Range. At the range's Northern extremity the 412 metre Mount Sugarloaf only just manages to pierce through the massive white blanket. It is no surprise this magnitude of Mother Nature's majesty and grandeur makes one feel truly fortunate to have risen from bed before noon.
